Depression

You are still here, and that matters.

Depression can make ordinary days feel like walking through deep water. You may love God, keep showing up, and still feel empty, tired, and far from everything that once felt alive.

This is a place to be honest, to rest in what is true, and to take one small step.

You are seen. You are held. You are not alone.

You are not failing, and you are not alone.

You may have been tired for so long that it has started to feel normal. It isn’t. Depression can dull what you used to enjoy, make small tasks feel enormous, and leave you wondering where God went. But this is a season you are walking through, not a verdict on your faith or your worth. God has not looked away from you, and He is not disappointed in you for struggling. You do not have to feel better today. There are small, gentle things that may help, and we can start with just one.

When even prayer feels heavy.

Some days you cannot find the words, and you are not sure God would want to hear them anyway. You open your Bible and the page stays blank in your mind. That is not a sign He has left. The psalmists brought Him their honest, unpolished sighs.

“LORD, all my desire is before You; And my sighing is not hidden from You.”

— Psalm 38:9

You do not have to pray well. A sigh, a single word, or silence in His direction is still prayer, and He is already listening.

Would it help to have a gentle step forward?

Depression First Steps gives you one small, doable step at a time.

Start with First Steps

Remember Who is with you.

Depression tells us we are alone in the dark. Scripture tells us Who is near.

The LORD is near to the brokenhearted And saves those who are crushed in spirit.

— Psalm 34:18

You do not have to climb out to reach Him. He comes near to the crushed, not to the ones who have it together. Maybe today’s next step is simply this: I am worn out, and I will let God be near.

Take one truth with you.

“The LORD is near to the brokenhearted And saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

You don’t have to download anything. You don’t have to buy anything. You don’t have to feel hopeful today. Just know that when you are crushed, God is near.

You don’t have to carry this by yourself.

Depression often convinces us to pull away. We stop answering, stop asking, and try to hold the weight quietly so no one has to see it. Scripture invites us to hand the weight over instead of hiding it.

“Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.”

— Psalm 55:22, NASB 2020

Sustaining is not the same as fixing everything by morning. It is God holding you up through the days that still feel gray. Letting a trusted person or a doctor help you carry it is not weakness. It is one of the ways He sustains.
